well nobody owes me money, and EB Games will be refunding me $115 when I return Project Gotham Racing 3 and Need for Speed: Most Wanted. Thought I was #2 of 13 at Sears…turns out they’re not getting their shipment. i stood in the rain at best buy for a few hours only to be told it was all for nothing…got up the next morning, drove all over the greater Sterling/Ashburn, VA area only to think Tucker and I were the first 2 in line…and go home empty handed. Anyway…i’m a lazy blogger today, these are from Tucker’s blog [we essentially have the same story to tell...although i wasn't offering to S some mean D to get ahead in line]:
Just got back from the camp out at Best Buy in Sterling Virginia (Store #) with Hoover. We got f’d pretty bad here. Best Buy really screwed up this whole deal.
Today I headed over to Best Buy at:4:00ish to check out the whole situation. I talked to a Best Buy employee who told me that they would handing out tickets at 11:45 pm that night for people that were in line. I thought “SWEET”, I may have a chance. Called Hoover and made plans.
First we showed up at 10:30pm. Looked like there were only 140 people in line and according to reports they were supposed to have 160. I thought we were in a really good position to get one. So we stood there, Jessi was kind enough to get me a coat and gloves for my long wait. At about 10:45pm a Best Buy employee came out and told us that they had delivered the first set of tickets and that they would be coming out to hand out more tickets. Our chances were looking better and better. Fast forward to 11:10pm another Best Buy employee comes out to inform us that they will be not handing out any more tickets and that they had handed them all out at 4:30pm that day. WHAT THE FUCK!? Why would two seperate employees tell me two seperate things? What did the last employee have to say? You can stand in line to buy games and accessories if we wanted to.
Right, because I wanted to sit and stare at some shit that I couldn’t use.. I love the fact that in a huge company like Best Buy doesn’t know what it’s doing.
So what have a I learned? Best Buy sucks for poor management of the launch event, seriously only 12 stores were opened for midnight launches of the biggest item to have this christmas? Also Microsoft sucks for not having enough to meet the demand of a machine that they have been hyping up for months. They wanted a huge launch and they got it. Shame that with all the hype they didn’t prepare better for it. Sony take notice, if you don’t want to screw your fans this is what NOT todo.
and a little bit on the sears debacle and the shoddy build quality of the 360
While I’m slightly disappointed in not getting an XBox 360, mostly because everyone seemed to agree that it would most likely be the best thing to show off a plasma screen. I also wanted to see what the new XBox Live experience was like. All the hype leading up to the release seemed to point out that it’s really what I wanted the first Live to be about.
But not it seems that I may have been more frustrated getting the XBox then not. Okay, of course selling it on eBay for an average of 250+ more dollars then retail would be a good reason to still get one. Seems the 360 has a bit of a heating issue and potential a software lockup issue.
So maybe the fact that Sears screwed up thier shipments maybe a good thing. I save $500 buck and potentially get a better product down the road. Of course if Sears calls and says that I get one then this whole post is null and void.
again those are both from Tucker’s blog
ehem…i think you both forgot to include the most important part of this story…yeah, it’s the part where you mention that lisa and jessi are the most ridiculously amazing women for driving around all night buying you hats and gloves, coffee and water, smokes and whatever other types of paraphenalia you needed to make your stay more comfortable. oh, and did i mention that at the end of the day we all just looked like a bunch of weenies?
